The Lansdowne Group is a thought leadership forum that explores innovative strategies for helping people make sustainable changes in behavior and assisting organizations in forming cultures that improve overall health and performance. Group members embrace the conception of health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and share a commitment to a health care system that focuses more on keeping people healthy. The Group is equally committed to exploring innovation in health care service delivery that increases value - with value conceived broadly as a measure of health outcomes achieved per dollar expended. The Group recognizes that genuine innovation, whether in the service of sustaining health or treating the sick, must ultimately be judged on the basis of measurable outcomes.
Members of the Group include thought leaders from academia, industry, and the not for profit sector focused on health improvement in various social contexts, including the workplace, the community, and healthcare delivery systems. The Group has been organized and supported by ValueOptions, a leading health improvement organization headquartered in Norfolk, VA.
The Group meets twice each year in Boca Raton, Florida, and any activities undertaken between meetings are based on the interests and resources of each member. The Lansdowne Group facilitates focused discussion on important topics for the benefit of its members.
In order to advance thinking on specific topics the Group may develop white papers that help focus discussion at its bi-annual meetings. While these white papers may be shared outside the Group, they do not represent a consensus view of the Group’s members. There is no Group approval process. If a Group member or others choose to cite parts of a white paper in a personal publication or presentation, the attribution should be to an unpublished white paper of The Lansdowne Group.
While Lansdowne Group white papers may educate readers on important issues and help inform business or policy decisions, it is not the mission of the Lansdowne Group to advocate public policy positions, engage in lobbying, publish articles, or develop specific products. However, Group members may choose to collaborate on such activities and may use Group white papers to support them.
Members of the Group may also decide to engage in a variety of collaborative projects (e.g., demonstration projects, research projects, advocacy projects, product/program development projects), but such activities are strictly based on the interests and resources of each member of the group.
